Black Magic
How many of you are drawn to color, then ask the sales person, "Does this come in black?" :) We've all been there so here's a blog post dedicated to our most requested color - BLACK.
First, here's a few fun facts we found interesting about the LBD - "Little Black Dress":
- The origins of the LBD can be traced back to the 1920's (made famous by designers Coco Chanel and Jean Patou).
- It's widely considered as a wardrobe ESSENTIAL.
- The LBD has made appearances through several fashion eras from Hollywood Glamour to 90's Grunge. Just showing off it's versatility and necessity in all trends.
So, why do we love it??
- We associate the color with PRACTICAL, SIMPLE, and TIMELESS.
- Research shows that the color black is perceived by others as prestige, power, seriousness, and intelligence. (It's why graduation robes are black!)
- Let's not forget it matches with everything...
Anyway, we hope all these tidbits make you feel better about all the black that's probably already in your closet. You can never go wrong with the elegance and simplicity of it. We recently realized that we are fully stocked with several black outfits and wanted to share them with you! Perhaps you can modernize or update your LBD :)
Allow us to introduce THE KIT. This is our most versatile LBD... It's tapered hem allows you to wear this as a dress AND a tunic. It's also very slimming on ALL body types. The draped top leaves room for comfort and illusion.
Ok THE ARIANA isn't a fully black but we decided to put a twist in. To us at TEN TOMORROW, stripes are eternal. We will always wear them! We also wanted to share a little inspiration story - ARIANA is named after Ariana Grande, she's always in shoulder baring looks. We wanted to create our own style where the whole dress doesn't have to be tight...let's be real, we don't have Ariana Grande's body...Not even close. So TA-DA :) This is our "sexy" but comfy off-shoulder style.
The Chad Maxi is fast becoming our best seller. We launched the casual short version a couple years ago and recently decided to design a maxi one for this past holiday season. We loved being able to take a customer-fave and dressing it up for something special. For all of you who have been asking for black, we heard you...Now it's available online AND in-store.
While all the other dresses boarder on "fancy" (for Hawaii), THE KATE is our strictly casual LBD. It's the cutest little tank dress, perfect for the weekend. Literally made to throw-on-and-go. Try pairing it with a blazer for a more polished look.
Last but certainly not least, THE EVE. It's our modern take on a shift dress! It's well balanced in that it's not too tight or too loose, it's not too revealing but it shows some skin, and it's got some fashion trend to it while maintaining a timelessness about it. If you're a TV fan - we were inspired by the show Killing Eve. We're obsessed with murder mysteries and this is our new FAVE.
